Description: This presentation will highlight the contributions of the Oklahoma folk singer Woody Guthrie to American history, music, and culture and will focus on his battle with Huntington's Disease which rendered him physically and mentally incapacitated. Woody Guthrie's diagnosis and treatment for Huntington's Disease will be compared to current medical protocols and will focus on implications for guardianship and alternatives to guardianship to manage the consequences of the disease. This is a timely presentation with the reference to Mr. Guthrie in the recent movie about Bob Dylan.
