Chapter 13 of the Texas Guardianship Manual provides an essential narrative on Foreign Guardianships.  This session will address the relationship between Texas courts and other state and territorial guardianship courts.  Texas has not adopted the Uniform Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act as have 46 states in the Union and several territories.  In this session the authors of this chapter will explore the intricacies of the Texas Estates Code as they relate to practice issues and strategies as well as the approach Texas courts may take when handling interstate guardianship transfers to and from Texas courts.  The presenter will refer to an online version of the Texas Guardianship Manual throughout the presentation.
